Rhona has been a supporter of Epilepsy Research UK for many years, since tragically she lost her daughter Shannon to SUDEP.

She said, “Shannon was diagnosed with epilepsy at eighteen months old, but she didn’t let that stop her from doing anything she wanted to. When she passed away at the age of 21 from SUDEP, it was an unbelievable shock and to this day still leaves me empty. In her memory, I decided to channel positive energy into raising money for Epilepsy Research UK, who are researching ways to make living with epilepsy better. We had an amazing turnout at the Christmas Zumba party. It was great fun and we had some really positive feedback from those that participated.”

Rhona is a personal trainer at Hart Leisure Centre and decided to organise an energetic 80 minute Christmas Zumba party to raise money for research this year and had more than 60 Hart residents join her on the day. There was also a raffle where more than 70 prizes had been donated by staff, friends and family members.

The event raised an incredible £1,500, meaning Rhona has now raised more than £11,000 for Epilepsy Research UK through various fundraisers. Thank you Rhona for all your tireless fundraising in memory of Shannon.
