Kaye Wayman has been fundraising in memory of her best friend Emily O’Dell and this year organised a 9 mile sponsored walk to raise funds for Epilepsy Research UK. She tells her fundraising story here:
“This year was my third year fundraising for my best friend Emily. Emily was expecting her first child when we lost her to epilepsy & since her passing I’ve raised money every year in her memory.
I try and out do myself each year & this year thought it would be a good idea to do a walk followed by staying up the remainder of the 24 hours. Sadly I didn’t make the staying up part as I underestimated how tiring the walk would be! But the 9 miles walk from Aylsham to Wroxham was beautiful & thankfully, accompanied by a few of Emily’s family it went quite quickly!
We managed to raise £771.50 which beat last years total & was £271.50 over my £500 target!
Not a day goes by where I don’t think of both Emily & Finn & miss them terribly. Emily did everything for both me & my family without hesitation & it’s why I’ve made it my life’s mission to fundraise for research every year to help prevent other families from going through the heart breaking pain we did & still do to this day.
Raising money for this charity is my way of coping with the loss of my beautiful best friend & her baby & knowing it goes towards research to help prevent anyone else going through the pain we all have losing Emily & her baby will forever keep me doing it year on year.”
Congratulations to all for completing the walk and thank you for fundraising for ERUK.
