Nick is Executive Director of the MRC/UKRI Nucleic Acid Therapy Accelerator, a new unit with a particular focus on the development of novel therapies for rare diseases. Nick has over 35 years’ experience in genetic and genomic medicine and has worked in academia, industry and the NHS. Nick is a co-founder of Congenica, a digital health company providing clinical decision support software for precision medicine.

Prior to founding Congenica, Nick was Director of Genetics Services at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, where he developed a special interest in the genetics of epilepsy and associated neurodevelopmental disorders. Nick holds a number of commercial scientific advisory roles and has been involved in numerous start ups and SMEs. Nick holds an honoray appointment at the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, UCL and was awarded a personal chair in Medical Genetics at Cardiff University in 2005.
