Here at Epilepsy Research UK we’ve been working on trying to make research more accessible. After the success of the recently launched #ERUKResearchBlog, we decided to take it one step further for National Epilepsy Week and hold our first webinar.
Our newly appointed Director of Research & Innovation, Dr James Pickett, took on the challenge and brought together ERUK funded researchers and experts by experience to share their work and thoughts on the #MoreThanSeizures theme.
The first of our fantastic guest speakers was epilepsy advocate and blogger, Faye Waddams, who gave a personal perspective on what ‘more than seizures’ means to her. ERUK’s SAC Chair and 2020 grant awardee, Professor Mike Cousin, then discussed his work on understanding the causes of epilepsy and how his team at The Cousin Lab are working towards better treatments and prevention. Dr Sophie Bennett, also an ERUK 2020 grant awardee, closed the session with a presentation on improving current care and treatment of mental health for people with epilepsy.
The webinar was a huge success, with all 100 places for the session fully booked and fantastic interaction from the audience, who were able to pose questions to the panellists.
If you missed it – don’t worry, you can watch the full webinar below. The session was aimed for all, so whether you’re living with epilepsy, researching epilepsy or just interested and would like to learn a bit more we hope you’ll enjoy it!
And keep your eyes peeled – there may be more ERUK Webinars in the pipeline…
