Alastair (‘Ali’) died unexpectedly in April 2021, at the age of 27. His death was a shock to many and he will be a greatly missed son, brother, friend, and colleague. He was diagnosed with epilepsy aged 20 after two major seizures. He received various medications and consultations at hospitals including the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London but epilepsy continued to impact his daily life, with frequent minor seizures, although people were often unaware of this.
Alastair was a talented computer scientist working in a senior site reliability engineering role. He had a cheeky sense of humour and an entrepreneurial spirit – as someone who brought life to a party, his absence will be felt for a long time.
We hope by raising money for Epilepsy Research UK, other people like Alastair will be able to access better treatment so that epilepsy has a lesser impact on their lives.
