The Association of British Neurologists is the membership body for neurologists in the UK, and aims to promote excellent standards of care and champion high-quality education and world-class research in neurology.

This year, Epilepsy Research UK and the Association of British Neurologists are co-funding a Clinical Research Training Fellowship. The objective of this fellowship is to encourage the brightest UK neurology trainees in undertaking world-leading clinical neuroscience research for improving the care of people with epilepsy.

Research in clinical neuroscience lags far behind research funding for other conditions and in the recruitment and retention of research personnel. It is vital that the next generation of neurologists is trained in research and discovery.

The ABN Clinical Research Training Fellowships support 3-year clinical research training fellowships in neurological disciplines resulting in a PhD.

For full information and how to apply, please visit the Association of British Neurologists website here.

We have recruited around 300 members to our SHAPE NETWORK, through which we aim to provide a national Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) service for researchers, facilitating and managing the involvement of people living with epilepsy in research. Through the SHAPE NETWORK, we can assist you with:

  • Focus groups to assist with study design
  • Steering committees for research programmes
  • Reviewing the accessibility of research communications and participant information sheets
  • Recruitment for research studies

To discuss how you could benefit from involving the SHAPE NETWORK in your research application, please contact our Head of Research, Caoimhe Twohig-Bennett here.
